Architects Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers created this architectural wonder in 1972, creating a sensation with its bursts of colour.
The Centre recently reopened for the new millenium after undergoing extensive renovation. It's a symbol of innovative contemporary architecture, a site for exploring all things modern.
The Centre includes:
- The National Gallery of Modern Art (with over 45,000 works) and its Graphic Arts Space (open weekdays from 10 am to 12:30 pm and from 2 pm to 5:30 pm), created in 1975, renovated and reopened in 2002,
- The public library, Bibliothèque Kandinsky (open weekdays, except Tuesdays, from 11 am til 5:30 pm), which holds one of the most significant contemporary book collections,
- The Cinematheque,
- Several exhibition rooms for temporary displays,
- and a host of other facilities.
Please note: like all national museums, entry to the Centre is free the first Sunday of each month.
Please note: this museum, like all national museums, is open to the public for free the first Sunday of every month.
